Standards & Certifications

Fume hood performance is commonly referenced against EN 14175 (Europe) and applicable US workplace exposure standards. Recirculating hoods use molecular (activated carbon) filtration selected for the chemistry handled; ducted hoods exhaust to the outside.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a ductless and a ducted fume hood?
A ductless (recirculating) fume hood filters air through HEPA and activated carbon and returns it to the room — no ductwork required. A ducted hood exhausts contaminated air outside the building.
Are recirculating fume hoods safe?
When the correct carbon filter is selected for the specific chemistry and the hood is properly maintained and monitored, recirculating hoods provide effective operator protection for many applications.
Can a fume hood handle powders and CMR substances?
